NOTE : Any person who makes a statement or declaration which is false and which the either knows or believes to be false or does not believe to be true is punishable under section 31 of the Representation of the People Act,1950.

सुचना : जो कोई व्यक्ति ऐसा कथन या घोषणा करता है जो मिथ्या है और जिसके मिथ्या होने का उसे ज्ञान या विश्वास है या जिसके सत्य होने का उसे विशवास नहीं है,लोक प्रतिनिध्त्वि अधिनियम ,1950 की धारा 31 के अधीन दंडनीय है

Section 31 - The Representation of the People Act, 1950

31. Making false declarations.—If any person makes in connection with—

(a) the preparation, revision or correction of an electoral roll, or

(b) the inclusion or exclusion of any entry in or from an electoral roll, a statement or declaration in writing which is false and which he either knows or believes to be false or does not believe to be true, he shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with both.]

31. मिथ्या घोषणाएं करना -- यदि कोई व्यक्ति --

(क) किसी निर्वाचक नामावली की तैयारी,पुनरीक्षण एवम् शुद्धि के,अथवा

(ख) किसी प्रविष्टि के किसी निर्वाचक नामावली में सम्मिलित या उसमें अपवर्जित किये जाने के संबंध में, ऐसा कथन या ऐसी घोषणा लिखित रूप में करेगा जो मिथ्या है और जिसके मिथ्या होने का या तो उसे ज्ञान है या विश्वास हैं या जिसके सत्य होने का उसे विश्वास नहीं है, तो वह ऐसे कारावास से, जिसकी अवधी एक वर्ष तक की हो सकेगी, या जुर्माने से, या दोनों से, दंडनीय होगा |
